Naturopathic Lab Testing

In addition to a comprehensive intake and physical examination, appropriate lab testing can often be an essential part of finding the root cause of a health concern. Dr. Boudreau works with a number of labs to provide his patients with a wide variety of naturopathic lab testing, including food sensitivity testing as well as a host of other options, including:
Rocky Mountain Analytical (RMA Lab):
  • Food Sensitivity Testing (FST) -- Through a simple blood test, it is possible to pinpoint specific foods that your body has produced antibodies against (often contributing to symptoms including gas, bloating and bowel irregularity as well as skin rash, joint pain and fatigue). By identifying these trigger foods and eliminating or reducing them in the diet, there may be an equally wide range of health benefits (click here to see a complete list of the foods tested).
    • FST Basic panel (120 foods) -- see sample report
    • FST Enhanced panel (220 foods)
    • FST Vegetarian panel (160 foods)
    • Optional Candida add-on assessment.
Precision Analytical:
  • Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones (DUTCH) test -- A comprehensive assessment of sex and adrenal hormone levels and metabolism, as well as organic acids and melatonin level (see sample report).
Doctor's Data:
  • GI360 Digestive Analysis -- A comprehensive take-home stool test that can detect a wide range of pathogens including bacteria, parasites and viruses. It also assesses for macronutrient digestion, potential autoimmune issues, and many other factors (see sample report).

(Side Note: The GI360 test is similar to another stool test called the GI MAP test, offered through a different lab, Diagnostic Solutions Laboratory. Like the GI360 test, GI MAP also assesses microbial levels. However, the GI360 test more thoroughly explores metabolic and biochemical function compared to the GI MAP test).

  • Urine Toxic & Essential Elements Test -- This take-home urine collection can detect the presence of toxic metals like mercury, lead and arsenic, as well as measuring levels of essential elements including calcium, magnesium and selenium (see sample report).
  • NeuroBasic & NeuroAdrenal Testing -- These take-home tests can help to assess levels of neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine, which play key roles in sleep, energy and mood. The NeuroAdrenal test also captures data regarding daily fluctuations in the stress hormone cortisol.
SIBO Canada:
  • SIBO Test -- The SIBO breath test can help determine whether an overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine (producing either hydrogen gas or methane gas) is contributing to digestive complaints from heartburn to diarrhea or constipation.

In addition, Dr. Boudreau also takes into account more traditional lab testing (done at one of the many Lifelabs locations in Port Moody, Coquitlam, and the Tri-Cities area. To find a Lifelabs near you, click here). Tests commonly performed include (but are not limited to):

  • Complete blood count (assessing the production, formation and functionality of white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets)
  • Fasting blood sugar and hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C)
  • Blood hormone levels (including bioavailable testosterone, DHEA, estrogen, TSH and the thyroid hormones, as well as the stress hormone cortisol)
  • Cholesterol panels (including HDL "good", LDL "bad" cholesterol, and triglyceride levels)
  • Markers for kidney and liver function
  • Urine testing to assess kidney function, potential blood sugar, possible urinary tract infection, etc.

  • Also note that many extended health benefits plans may cover part or all of naturopathic lab testing, including food sensitivity testing
